While we don’t usually report on PC news, this latest bit of news from market-research firm Gartner concerning HP Inc. is worth nothing. According to Gartner, HP Inc. hit a significant milestone in its second quarter, reclaiming the top position from Lenovo in the worldwide PC market in the second quarter of 2017.

Gartner also notes that HP Inc. has achieved five consecutive quarters of year-over-year growth. HP’s PC shipments grew in most regions, and it did especially well in the United States, where its shipments “growth far exceeded the regional average.”

Back in April, IDC also reported that HP Inc. took back the top PC spot, but in the first quarter of 2017. The firm noted that was the first time HP had been world PC leader since the first quarter of 2013, after several quarters of inching closer to Lenovo. According to IDC, HP “has focused on building out a deep portfolio and saw a strong quarter in notebooks across all regions.”

In May, HP Inc. reported a breakthrough second quarter, with both it printer and PC revenue up versus the same quarter a year ago, marking the first time both groups’ revenues were up in the same quarter since 2010.
